Keeping You Active Before and After Pregnancy

You are in Safe Hands

Prenatal and Postnatal Reformer Pilates

At The Reformer Studio, we have a host of mums in our team. Many of us have been through the hardships of prenatal exercise and postnatal recovery. We have built two specially designed courses for mums and mums-to-be to safely experience the benefits of Pilates while being mindful of the changes to your body.

Prenatal Pilates

Our Prenatal Pilates course is great for both those who don't work out regularly and a great addition to those who do. Reformer Pilates is a low-impact exercise that focuses primarily on engaging the core muscles, often referred to as our powerhouse.

Exercise during pregnancy has been shown to be good for both you and your baby, and our Prenatal Pilates course specifically focuses on supporting the needs of your changing body in a way that is safe for both of you and accommodates the related changes that come with each trimester.

Benefits of Our Prenatal Course

  • Strengthen the core muscles.

  • Engaging the pelvic floor.

  • Working in movements that are both functional and challenging.

  • Use breathwork to facilitate further engagement of your core, providing you with greater support during exercise and your everyday life as you get further along in your pregnancy and into labour.

Recommended for those who are 14+ weeks pregnant.

We look forward to seeing you in the studio and supporting you on this very special journey.

Postnatal Pilates

Our Postnatal Pilates course is geared towards anyone looking to reintroduce exercise after giving birth in a safe and attentive way to both your physical and mental health needs. Reformer Pilates, in particular, is a low-impact exercise focusing primarily on engaging the core muscles, often referred to as our powerhouse. As a result of accommodating our babies' needs, we often experience tightness in our lower bodies and trunks.

Our program consistently incorporates stretching to facilitate lengthening through the lower body and extension and rotation through the upper body, addressing the impacts of pregnancy and postnatal demands. Join us and allow yourself time for self-care to heal and breathe into better health for you and your family. Babies that are not crawling/walking yet are welcome to join you for the class.

  • What is your late arrival policy?
What is your late arrival policy? We close the door/stop entry to class at the time the class is set to start, this is to reduce disruption and allow members to fully enjoy the session. Please arrive 10 minutes before your session to allow yourself time to find parking and get to the studio, especially if it is your first time as the instructor needs to show you the Reformer.

Socks are required to be worn in all classes, no bare feet are allowed on the carriage for hygiene reasons. We have grippy socks available to purchase in the studio which we would recommend for classes to reduce slipping. • What class is best for beginners?
The best class for beginners is Reform Foundation, Reform Foundation covers all the fundamentals you will use in classes moving at a steady pace. Progressive foundation is also a great place to start, this class takes the fundamentals and starts to layer onto them giving the option of challenging yourself. Our signature Reform Body Is also easily adaptable and accessible for beginners.

  • Can I come to class if pregnant?
You can come to timetabled classes up to 14 weeks, from then onwards you can no longer attend regular classes. Don’t worry we have a prenatal course which specialises in keeping you active whilst pregnant.

  • What does it mean if I am waitlisted?
If you are on the waitlist for a class it means the class is full and you will only be able to join if someone cancels and a space becomes available. If you have opted in to communications you will receive an email or text to let you know you have a space. If it is within 24 hours you will be asked to let the studio know you can attend, if it is over 24 hours when you are notified you will automatically be moved onto the class.
